LA BRUTAL

A restaurant by the renowned chef Marc Ribas, with the aim of transforming a 1970s bar into a modern Catalan farmhouse.
Fortunately, the space is located within a 19th-century building featuring medieval elements such as stone walls and a 12th-century arch.
We stripped the space of all that was superfluous to reach its essence, inspired by the restaurant's gastronomy.

We created custom furniture, plant installations, and a large site-specific art piece.
Local materials like chestnut wood, La Bisbal tiles, Quart-made bricks, old hydraulic tiles from Banyoles, and a bar made from old city curbstones and authentic troughs recovered for the bathrooms were used.
The downstairs room immerses you in an Empordà field, and the upstairs room emulates a farmhouse with artisanal pitchers and portraits of the producers who supply the kitchen and cellar. A brutalist installation dominates the bar, illustrating the deconstructive process the space has undergone.
