About us

In 2018, we bought a house to renovate in Girona. Gerard was already working professionally in interior design and bioconstruction, but in our house, we teamed up, and it was a joint design and execution.

We realized that working together not only brought us great joy but also complemented each other, where one couldn’t reach, the other could.

So we decided to create a new project together and chose Consciència because it perfectly defines what we do: environmental, personal consciousness, respect for the past and traditions...

Being a couple in real life and working together is a highly stimulating challenge and makes Consciència more than just a job: it is our way of understanding life.


  • Although I graduated in Law and Journalism and completed a master's degree in Graphic Design, I recently remembered that as a child, influenced by my father, an architect, I spent the day drawing house floor plans...

    Art, literature, fashion, architecture, and decoration are some of my passions.

    Consciència has allowed me to develop my passion for decoration and interior design, applying graphic design methodologies and strategic communication.


  • I studied Applied Arts for Wall Surfaces at the Olot School of Art and spent a few years professionally dedicated to painting and artistic performance.

    However, due to family tradition, construction has always been present in my life, and after studying bioconstruction and permaculture in Mexico, I decided to dedicate myself exclusively to bioconstruction, complementing it with a two-year postgraduate degree in Interior Design, to offer a comprehensive service.

Philosophy

A home should not only make life easier but enhance it, taking us to a more connected, conscious, and elevated level of ourselves.

A retail space or business should not be simply practical; it should evoke emotions, convey the brand's values, captivate, and enhance the customer experience.

Through beauty, textures, light, and art, we create spaces where life is just as it should be: cultured, stimulating, inspiring, peaceful, and pleasant.

    Our art background guides us in developing each project.

    We base everything on a concept that serves as our guide, North Star, and leitmotiv.

    We invite the client to explore with us and delve into this concept through a carefully curated and exclusive client experience.

  • Customer Experience


    Throughout the process, the client feels in control.
    He knows the project's stage, and participates in the creative design, which becomes a guided experience by us.

    We take them through various artistic moments or sources of inspiration using music, artworks, films, and materials they can touch, feel, and smell.

    A sensory journey through the chosen concept for their home or brand, ensuring decisions are natural and coherent with the project's entirety.

    The project will be created as a whole, an immense work of art full of small nuances, where every detail interacts with the rest and the space itself, like a blank canvas.

  • Lifestyle


    We conceive work as a lifestyle.
    Not only are we partners, but we are also a couple in real life, so Consciència and its philosophy (slow life, ecology, art, culture…) are intrinsic to our union and each of us individually.

    Therefore, we enjoy and make the client enjoy every part of the process, just as we like to share more relaxed moments with our clients.

    A meal by the sea, a candlelight dinner, or a visit to an exhibition serves as the backdrop for conversations that help us better understand our clients, their passions, their history, or their aesthetic preferences, allowing us to refine our design by understanding them more deeply.

    This trust relationship is also important when working on more mundane tasks.

    Our goal is for our clients to remember the renovation work done on their home or business not as a source of stress, but as a phase filled with creativity, stimulation, and a process as enriching as possible.

Transparency

Trust and transparency are essential to developing our work.

As in any creative process, trust leads to the most interesting projects, and transparency is vital for that trust to be mutual.

Fluid and honest communication with our client is the only way to forge a relationship based on mutual respect, trust, and consideration.

Ad hoc

In order to achieve a unique personality for each project, we sometimes design and execute furniture specifically for that project.

This way, we provide a unique atmosphere while working with materials that play an important role in the design and overall concept.

Site-specific art

The art we create establishes a dialogue with the overall project.

Sometimes it reflects the project's concept, in other projects it responds to a more specific element of the design, but it always has a meaning beyond the purely aesthetic, becoming a signature piece that tells a story and expresses the essence of that home or business.

    Artists, craftsmen, manufacturers, designers, vintage shops, markets…

    In addition to our own design and art, we select unique pieces that bring a story, something special to enrich our projects.

  • Materiality


    Textures are an essential part of our work.

    We use natural materials not only for their aesthetic and sensory components but for their benefits: breathability, neutrality, humidity regulation, thermal and acoustic comfort.

  • Passivhaus


    We work with a premise: What is good for us is good for the client and good for nature.

    Sustainability is an essential and indispensable requirement for us in everything we do.

    This concept is present both in the design and in the materials used:

    We design spaces to promote good indoor air quality and low energy consumption by applying bioclimatic architecture and passivhaus criteria.

    We work with natural and local materials to develop healthy spaces: unlike conventional paints and current construction systems, these materials do not emit toxic substances while offering natural regulation of humidity and cold-heat to achieve great comfort and energy efficiency with the consequent savings in heating/cooling.
